Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, more than 600 Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) parents recently received $ 10 gift certificates that can be redeemed for a Thanksgiving turkey or other food items at Sam & Sam meats, a local busines in Chester. The gift certificates were contributed by the schools founder and his wife, Vahan and Danielle Gureghian. Helping to present the certificates to the parents were Chesters Mayor Wendell N. Butler, City Councilman Shepard A. Garner, Magistrate Judge Dawn L. Vann and the schools Thanksgiving Day mascot, Chester C. Turkey.
This is the 11th year that the Gureghians have donated money toward the Thanksgiving Gift Certificate program, which has amounted to more than $ 66,000, over that period.
The relationship that has developed among the administration, faculty, staff and Chester Community Charter School parents is a special one, said Vahan Gureghian. Our teachers have a very close rapport with the parents, and understand how hard they work to provide for their children. All of us, here, at CSMI (the schools management company) and CCCS, give as much as we can because we know that every little bit helps; it would be devastating to know one of our students went without, during the holidays.

Lee, CEO, Chester Community Charter School, commenting on the programs impact on the community at-large said, The Thanksgiving Gift Certificate program is an important way that we, here, at the school, support our parents in the partnership to better the lives of our students. We also understand that in the current economy it is increasingly difficult for many of our parents to provide for their children, and we are more than happy to assist when and where we can.

Chester Community Charter School opened its doors on September 9, 1998, serving 97 students from its modest four meeting rooms, in the lobby of the Howard Johnson Hotel. Chester Community Charter School, since, has steadily grown to include more than 2,750 students in ten state-of-the-art buildings. Recently, Chester Community Charter School provided personal laptop computers, through the One Laptop per Child program, to 1,400 of its students in grades 3 through 8.
